Helping you make changes to your home
Sometimes modifications need to be made to your home so you can continue living comfortably and safely. These may be small modifications, such as installing levered handles on doors, easy-access taps, bath rails or shower hoses. Many modifications can be done to increase your independence, and our experts can help you find the ones that work for you. To be eligible for specific modifications, they must relate to the goals outlined in your care plan.
Care Connect will organise an assessment for your home that considers your daily activities and the tasks you find difficult. We will recommend possible modifications that will make your life easier. We can then arrange any modifications, such as easy access taps, shower hoses, levered door handles, bath rails or ramps, to be installed.
Will my home need modifications?
We will help you to decide that. Modifications can be as simple as switching tap handles so that you can easily turn them on or off, and many clients find that a few simple changes can make a big difference to everyday life. An experienced assessor will look at your home and make recommendations based on your own experience of carrying out daily activities in your home.
What modifications can be made?
Modifications typically involve the functionality of bathrooms and kitchens so that everyday tasks can be carried out. Benches and workspaces can be lowered, taps and handles changed, and rails, ramps and shower hoses installed. To access modifications, they must relate to the goals outlined in your care plan and be prescribed by an appropriate allied health professional e.g. Occupational Therapist.
Garden modifications
Garden modifications are part of making a home safe and easy to navigate. To be eligible for specific modifications to your garden, they must relate to the goals outlined in your care plan. Modifications can include:
- installing safety sensor lights
- installing ramps and rails
- running a path to the clothesline
- altering gate handles
I would strongly recommend Care Connect to any retiree seeking home help.
